Product Description

The 35-watt UV lamp from Way Too Cool offers great UV output at a reasonable price. These fixtures are the same dimensions as the 18 watt fixtures, but they have different tubes/bulbs/lamps, different ballasts, and different fans. These fixtures emit the same total amount of UV as the 36 watt versions, but the tubes/bulbs, lamps are only half the length. These fixtures operate on either 110/220 VAC, 12 VDC, or both which we call Universal Power. The Universal input fixtures are basically the same as using a 12 volt fixture plugged into a 12 volt wall adapter only without the need for a separate external adapter. Simply plug in the IEC power cord or DC cord (Anderson connector) and select between the two power inputs using the rocker switch. Universal input fixtures come with both AC and DC power cords.

The AC ballasts have a switch to select between 110-115 volts or 220-240 volts. The AC ballasts feature a programmed start cycle that will energize tubes/bulbs/lamps for an average of 50-60,000 on/off cycles before burning out the tube/bulb/lamp. The DC ballasts feature a rapid start ballast that will energize tubes/bulbs/lamps for an average of 12-15,000 on/off cycles before burning out the tube/bulb/lamp. The tubes/bulbs/lamps have 4 pin 2G11 bases. Philips makes tubes/bulbs/lamps that emit UV C and UV A color /10. Philips DOES make a standard UV B in an 36 watt compact fluorescent color /01 version, but it is strictly for medical use and it is very expensive. WTC uses a wavelength transforming sleeve with Nichia UV B phosphor embedded throughout to convert 36 watt UV C tubes/bulbs/lamps into UV B. See Patent #8558203B1. These will do a good job of illuminating a display case approximately 4' wide x 2' tall x 2' deep, but the UV will be a bit weak at the edges of the 4' case. It will be necessary to put bright specimens at the edges.

Lamp Fixture Dimensions
The single tube/bulb/lamp unit is about 15" long, 3" wide, and 3" high (385 mm x 76 mm x 76 mm) with a black powder-coated finish. The handle adds an additional 2.5" (64 mm) to the height. The unit also has a built-in fan to cool the tube/bulb/lamp and "D" rings to hang the fixture.

Dual and Triple 18 watt lamps come in the same box size approximately 10 3/8" x 5 9/16" x 7".

The original formula Hoya U325C filter glass is approximately 2" by 8" (50 mm x 203 mm) for the single and dual tube/bulb/lamp fixtures, and approximately 4" by 8" (101 mm x 203 mm) for the triple wavelength fixtures.
