This fine fluorescent smithsonite comes from the El Refugio mine in Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico. For many years, this material was mined only for visual specimens and it was simply chance if any of the specimens fluoresced. We are in contact with the family that has the mining rights and I have asked them to specifically look for fluorescent material there. This is the result. This material has THREE fluorescent colors of smithsonite - blue, pink, and red, and the material also has some calcite, willemite and hydrozincite. Some specimens have multiple photos from different angles and wavelengths
