The fluorescent material here is mostly calcite, willemite, fluorite and some aragonite. There are quite a few other minerals in the ore, but most of the others do not fluoresce. The calcite fluoresces a variety of reds under SW, from a dull cherry color to a pastel red, to a fiery orange red. However, under MW every bit of it changes to a bright red with a completely different tone. Specimens that do not have a bright red under SW, look very nice under MW or a combination of MW and the other wavelengths.
Special notes: Specimen 23 has chlorargyrite with it - see the light green patches in the white photo. Specimens 34 and 35 have a strange pattern of calcite crystals covered with willemite. This occurs where the bottom section of the vein meets the top section of the vein. The main vein was deposited in two events - for more details, see the articles about the geology of the mine.
Note: Specimens on this page are representative and may have sold. We are attempting to reorganize the material and will update specific specimens in the near future.
